Flights Canceled at Airport in Chiang Rai Due to Floods

The Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai International Airport has announced a cancelation of flights until further notice due to severe flooding.

On September 12th, 2024, Thai national media reported that heavy flooding in Chiang Rai’s municipal areas worsened overnight, driven by large water masses flowing in from Chiang Mai.

The Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai International Airport in the Ban Du sub-district, Mueang Chiang Rai, has announced the following as of Thursday morning (September 12th).

Thai Airways, Nok Air, Thai Vietjet and Thai Lion Air cancelled all flights serving at the Mae Fah Laung Chiang Rai International Airport. Thai Air Asia operated the last flight from the Don Mueang International Airport to the Mae Fah Laung Chiang Rai International Airport arriving at 12:40 P.M. and the last flight from the Mae Fah Laung Chiang Rai International Airport to the Don Mueang International Airport departed at 1:10 P.M..

Meanwhile, the Ban Du Police in Chiang Rai reported at 10:00 A.M. that about 200 passengers were stranded at the airport.

The Ban Du Police reported that roads near the airport are also flooded.
