Illegal Filipino Tour Guide Arrested on Pha Ngan Island

An illegal Filipino tour guide was arrested on the Pha Ngan district in Surat Thani.

The Koh Pha Ngan Police told the Phuket Express that this week they arrested Mrs. Kathelyn, 47, Filippini national at a tour company on the Pha Ngan Island. Seized from her were seven of tour package brochures.

She was taken to the Koh Pha Ngan Police Station to face charge of illegally operating tour business as well as being a foreigner doing a protected job (tour guide).

The Phuket Express notes that tour guides are a protected occupation in Thailand and that work permits and visas are unavailable to foreigners for this job.

Recently, an illegal Canadian massage therapist was also arrested with drugs on Koh Pha Ngan.

Earlier this week, an Austrian man was also arrested for working illegally as a tour guide on Koh Pha Ngan.

A British man was also arrested this week for illegally running a barbershop.
