Illegal Canadian Massage Therapist Arrested with Drugs on Pha Ngan Island

Surat Thani –

An illegal Canadian massage therapist was arrested with illegal drugs on the Koh Pha Ngan district in Surat Thani.

The Surat Thani immigration told the Phuket Express that earlier this week they arrested a suspect identified only as Mr. Ky, 48, Canadian national, at a massage parlor in the Koh Pha Ngan sub-district. Seized from him was 0.15 grams of Ecstasy in his pocket. He was arrested while he was massaging his customer.

He told police that the drug was used only for himself and not for sale. He was taken to the Koh Pha Ngan police Station to face charges of illegal possession of category 1 drugs and working illegally.

In Thailand, a massage therapist is a protected occupation, notes The Phuket Express, with no work permits available for the role.

Also recently, a Filipino national was arrested for working illegally as a tour guide on Koh Pha Ngan.

Earlier this week, an Austrian man was also arrested for working illegally as a tour guide on Koh Pha Ngan.

A British man was also arrested this week for illegally running a barbershop.
