Phuket-
The Thai Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) will support the budget for nine landslide warning devices for Phuket by the end of this year.
The Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat told the Phuket Express that the DMR is planning to provide nine landslide warning devices for Phuket. These devices will be linked with an application on smartphones which will be useful for both the general public and authorities for future disaster prevention.
If rainfall is at 140 to 160 mm the device should send a signal to relevant authorities, warning them or a potential landslide or problem. As for the recent heavy rain that caused landslides in Phuket, the rainfall in Kamala was 300 mm and in Karon was more than 200 mm, Governor Sophon noted.
