Phuket-
On Monday, August 26th, National Police Chief General Torsak Sukvimol visited Phuket to enhance tourists’ safety. His visit included an inspection of the Phuket Checkpoint in the Tha Chatchai sub-district, Thalang. During this visit, he encouraged police officers on duty at the checkpoint who were inspecting vehicles entering the area.
General Torsak also participated in a meeting with Region 8 Police Commander Lieutenant Colonel Surapong Thanomjit and Phuket Provincial Police Commander Major General Sinlert Sukhum. The focus of the meeting was on implementing safety measures based on the “Phuket Model,” which emphasizes three key points:
1. **Collecting Tourists’ Information:** Authorities are working to enhance safety and facilitate tourists’ experiences. This includes cracking down on illegal foreigners and managing risk activities to prevent incidents.
2. **Road Traffic Solutions:** To improve traffic flow, trucks are now banned from Phuket roads during rush hours. Road users have responded positively to this new rule.
3. **Strict Law Enforcement with Foreigners:** A total of 2,800 cases related to crimes and 15,000 cases related to traffic violations have been addressed.
General Torsak commended Phuket police for their diligent efforts in safeguarding both residents and tourists. He also urged the Region 8 Police Commander to explore technological enhancements for the Phuket Checkpoint, which serves as the primary gateway for road users entering the province.
