Kamala, Phuket– In a significant drug bust, Kamala Police arrested a group of individuals, including a Thai and a Malaysian national, on a mountain in Kamala. The arrests were made on Sunday, August 25th, following a tip-off about suspicious activities near a hut by a waterfall in Baan Bang Wan.
The Kamala Police, who had been tracking a major drug dealer in the area, discovered 400 grams of crystal methamphetamine at the scene. The primary suspect, identified only as Mr. Jessadaphon, was found in possession of the drugs. Alongside the methamphetamine, police also seized a KRICO GERMANY rifle with ten bullets, two BB guns, and an additional ten bullets.
Mr. Jessadaphon confessed that the drugs belonged to him, stating he had purchased them from an unidentified Thai man for 100,000 Baht. He claimed the firearms and ammunition were used for hunting squirrels in a durian plantation. Jessadaphon was taken to the Kamala Police Station and charged with illegal possession of a category 1 drug with intent to sell, as well as illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Two other individuals, Mr. Muhammad, a Malaysian national, and Mr. Prateep, were also arrested at the hut. They are facing charges of using illegal drugs.
The Kamala Police continue to investigate the source of the drugs and any potential connections to larger drug trafficking networks.
