Phuket –
Phuket has been announced as a disaster zone in which 209 families are currently suffering from the effects of landslides and flash floods, announced relevant officials.

Ten people have been found dead including two Russian nationals while one person is believed to be still missing after a landslide in Karon on Friday early in the morning (August 23rd).
Now for the update:
The Phuket Vice Governor Sattha Thongkam told the Phuket Express that the disaster announcement was issued late on Friday (August 23rd). The recent landslide and flash floods in parts of Phuket, especially Karon and Chalong, was a disaster that caused major loss and damage. Nine villages in three sub-districts are being listed as disaster zones:
- Three villages in Chalong with 40 families and 123 people.
- Two villages in Rawai with 55 families and 174 people.
- Four villages in Karon with 114 families and 382 people.
The Thai government has ordered local authorities to urgently assist residents in disaster zones.
The airport and main routes to the island are unaffected, however, as is the main tourism area in Patong.
