7-Day Weather Forecast: Thailand Braces for Increased Rainfall and Rough Seas

National —

On August 10th, 2024, the Thai Meteorological Department issued a 7-day weather forecast.

From August 11th to the 16th, the southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand is expected to strengthen to moderate levels. A monsoon trough will also extend over northern Thailand and upper Laos, reaching a low-pressure area over northern Vietnam.

This will result in increased rainfall across Thailand, with heavy rain expected in some areas. From August 11th to the 15th, residents are advised to be cautious of heavy rains and potential flash floods, especially in low-lying areas and near waterways.

Moderate sea conditions are forecasted for the upper Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand, with waves reaching 1-2 meters, and over 2 meters in stormy areas. Lower Andaman and lower Gulf regions will see waves around 1 meter, rising above 2 meters during storms.

Mariners in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand should avoid sailing in stormy conditions.
