Phuket –
A female sea turtle was found dead on a beach in Cherng Talay with garbage found inside the turtle.
The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) received a notification about the sad incident from a local at Surin Beach in Cherng Talay this week. Upon arrival, they found a young female hawksbill sea turtle measuring 32 centimeters in length, 30 centimeters in width, and weighing 2.2 kilograms. Despite no external wounds, the turtle had begun to decompose.
An autopsy revealed small garbage from such things as plastic, rubber, foam, and rope inside the turtle’s intestines, which is believed to be the cause of her death.
