Indian Man Drowns at Beach in Cherng Talay

Phuket –

An Indian tourist was pronounced dead after drowning at the Surin Beach in Cherng Talay on Wednesday (July 24th).

The Thalang Police was notified from the Thalang hospital that a tourist had been pronounced from drowning. Police arrived at the hospital to find the body of the tourist who was identified only as Mr. Kapu, 27, an Indian national. His friends told police that they went swimming in the morning with a total of four people.

Mr. Kapu was seen struggling in the sea before he was found face down in the water by his friends. They helped to pull Mr. Kapu from the water while asking a hotel staffer nearby to call an ambulance.

Mr. Kapu reportedly had no pulse and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Unfortunately, there have been several drownings in Phuket recently such as this one involving a Belgian tourist late last month.

A young Canadian man drowned earlier this month as well.

Phuket officials and lifeguards have pleaded with the public to follow directions from lifeguards and obey no swimming signs and red flags during the rainy season.
