Phuket, 24 July 2024– Mr. Prasert Chandraruangthong, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (Ministry of DE), visited Phuket to present the work and digital innovations of teachers and students participating in the Coding Bootcamp & Roadshow and Coding War activities. These events are part of the “Coding for Better Life” project, aimed at building a strong foundation for Thailand’s future.
The event was attended by notable figures including Asst. Prof. Dr. Natthaphon Nimmanphatcharin, Director General of the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), Mr. Chinawut Chinaprayoon, Assistant Director General of the Digital Economy Ecosystem Promotion Group, Dr. Jakkanit Kananurak, Director of the Digital Manpower Development Promotion Department, and Mr. Pracha Asawatheera, Southern Region Director. Executives from government agencies, the private sector, educational institutions, teachers, students, parents, and the general public also participated in the activities held at The Pago Design Hotel.
Mr. Prasert praised the dedication of all teachers and students involved in the Coding Bootcamp, highlighting their efforts to create digital innovations.
He noted that the top 10 teams from the upper southern region would join 100 teams nationwide in the final round of the Coding War, scheduled for September 13-15 at the MCC Hall, The Mall Life Store, Bangkapi. The winners will receive prizes worth over 1 million baht and the opportunity to compete in the Seoul International Invention Fair 2024 (SIIF 2024) in South Korea.
Expressing his confidence in the success of DEPA’s initiatives, Mr. Prasert emphasized the importance of coding in developing critical thinking and skills from an early age.
He thanked DEPA for organizing such impactful activities, which align with the Ministry’s policy of “The Growth Engine of Thailand.” This policy focuses on enhancing competitive potential and human development, crucial for transforming Thailand into a digital nation.
In his concluding remarks, Mr. Prasert highlighted the significance of providing creative spaces for youth to showcase their work, which is essential for national development. He expressed pride in the students’ collaborative efforts and the digital works they presented, attributing these achievements to DEPA’s continuous promotion and development initiatives.
