Two Chinese Tourists and Thai Captain Rescued after Boat Capsizes Near Phi Phi Island – VIDEO

Two Chinese tourists and a Thai captain have been rescued after a long-tailed boat capsized at the Phi Phi Lay Island in Krabi on Sunday (July 14th).

The head of the Noppharat Thara – Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park Mr. Yutthaphong Damsrisuk told the Phuket Express that at 11:00 A.M. on the day in question a long-tailed boat was battling with strong and high waves.

The boat capsized near the Viking Cave, only 200 meters from the Phi Phi Lay Island.

A speed boat captain nearby found two Chinese nationals and the Thai boat captain holding onto the capsized boat and yelling for help.

They were not wearing life jackets. Two unidentified foreigners on the speed boat jumped into the sea with life-jackets and have the three victims life-jackets before pulling them to the speed boat. They all safely arrived on land not long after.

The names of those involved in the incident were not released by Mr. Yutthaphong and they did not release any immediate statements to The Phuket Express.

The Thai Meteorological Department issued a warning about heavy to very heavy rain across Thailand and strong winds over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand from July 14-18, 2024.
