On Tuesday, July 9th, an important milestone was reached in Phuket, Thailand. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for “Pride & Equality Phuket” was signed at the Seabed Grand Hotel.

The signatories included Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat, Deputy President of the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization Mr. Arnuparb Wechwanichsanong, Phuket City Mayor Mr. Saroj Angkanapilart, and other key figures.

The MOU aims to advance equality and protect the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. Here are the key objectives:

1. **Promoting Gender Equality Awareness:** The initiative seeks to raise awareness about gender equality.
2. **Rights Protection:** It emphasizes safeguarding the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals.
3. **Combating Discrimination:** The MOU aims to prevent discrimination based on gender.
4. **Gender Equality Training:** Supporting educational programs related to gender equality.
5. **Activities for Equality:** Fostering events and activities that promote gender equality.

Additionally, Phuket has expressed its readiness to host the “Inter Pride World Conference” in 2025, further solidifying its commitment to LGBTQ+ rights and inclusivity.
