Five Myanmar Nationals Arrested For Illegally Working as Salespeople on Pha Ngan Island

Five Myanmar people were arrested on Pha Ngan Island in Surat Thani after they were found working illegally as salespeople.

The Koh Pha Ngan Tourist Police told the Phuket Express that on Thursday (July 4th) they arrested the suspects identified only as Mrs. Tay, 37, at a local restaurant, Mrs. Sa, 44, at a local grocery, Mrs. Kin, 40, a street vendor, Mrs. Ta, 35, at a tea stall, and Mrs. A, 47, at a local herbal stall.

They were taken to the Koh Pha Ngan Police Station to face charges of working without a legal work permit.

The Phuket Express adds that it is important to note that work permits and visas are not available for foreigners to work as regular salespeople in front of shops.
