Phang Nga –
A mountain in a public park in Mueang Phang Nga district collapsed after an earthquake was reported in the nearby area, despite the earthquake being minor.
However, park officials cautioned that the collapse may have been due to recent heavy rains and not the small earthquake.

An earthquake was reported on Wednesday (June 26th) in the Bang Toei sub-district, Mueang Phang Nga District.
Now for the update:
The Phang Nga City Mayor Mr. Choochoat Gaoigoon told the Phuket Express that they were notified of the rock collapse from exercisers in the Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Park (Suan Somdet Ya) in the Tai Chang sub-district, Mueang Phang Nga on Wednesday (June 26th).
Huge broken rocks were brought down by the collapse and blocked some walkways in the park. The area was temporarily blocked by officials to the general public for safety.
Meanwhile, the Geohazard Operation Center of the Department of Mineral Resources gave more details to the Phuket Express about the incident, seen below.
The incident is called a Rock Fall. The mountain is limestone with a high slope and heavy rain had continued during the past week. The rock could not support its own heavy weight and then collapsed. Luckily, there was nobody around during the collapse and nobody was injured.
The Phuket Express noted that there is no official confirmation if the Rock Fall incident is related to the recent minor earthquake in the nearby area.
