Young Turkish Man Arrested for Drunk Driving in Patong

A 19 year-old Turkish motorbike rider was arrested in Patong for drunk driving on Wednesday (June 20th).

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that they had set up a police checkpoint near the Dolphin Roundabout on the Taweewong Road from 2:30 A.M. to 3:00 A.M. A suspicious male foreign motorbike rider was stopped at the police checkpoint.

He was given an alcohol breath test. The test showed .57 milligrams percent of alcohol which was just slightly over the legal alcohol limit of .50.

The rider was identified by police only as Mr. Turkmen, 19, Turkish national. He was taken to the Patong Police Station to face charges of drunk driving. He did not immediately release a statement to the media.
