Sea Turtle Stuck in Garbage Rescued on Phuket Beach

A sea turtle stuck in some fishing nets was rescued on a beach in Thalang.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that on Tuesday (June 10th) they were notified that a sea turtle, which was still alive, had been found on the Bang Tao Beach, Cherng Talay.

They arrived at the beach to find a young Hawksbill Sea Turtle. The turtle was stuck in some broken fishing nets. The turtle was removed from the net. The turtle measured 25 centimeters wide, 27 centimeters long and weighed two kilograms.

The turtle was weak, thin and dehydrated with deep wounds on its front right and back flippers. The turtle was taken to the Sireetarn Marine Endangered Animals Rescue Center for further medical treatment.
