An American man has gone missing after he went swimming in a sea with family at a beach in Rawai on Sunday (June 9th).
The Rawai Mayor Aroon Solos told the Phuket Express. Lifeguards at the Nai Harn Beach were notified that three people in the family were struggling in the sea after they were swept out by waves.
The Thai wife and the child have been rescued while the American father, 49, was still missing. Rescue divers searched for him but failed because of strong wind and waves. The search continued on Monday (June 10th) but unfortunately is believed to now be a recovery versus a rescue operation.
The name of the man and his family were withheld by Phuket officials.
