Chinese Pedestrian Dies after Motorbike Crash in Rawai

A 58-year-old Chinese Pedestrian died after being crashed into by a motorbike in Rawai on Friday night (June 7th).

The Chalong Police were notified of the accident at 7:30 P.M. on Wiset Road opposite a gas station in Rawai. Emergency responders and the Phuket Express arrived at the scene. The damaged motorbike was found on the road. The rider, identified only as Mr. Detnarong, 30, and his passenger Ms. Natthakarn, 31 had sustained several injuries. They were taken to a nearby hospital.

The pedestrian, a 58-year-old female Chinese National had sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital (The Phuket Express is withholding her name). Witnesses told police that the Chinese tourist was crossing the road when the motorbike rider hit her. The Chalong Police are continuing their investigation for consideration of further legal action.
