UPDATE: Suspect Arrested after Stabbing Abbot at Temple in Thalang

A suspect was arrested after stabbing an abbot at a temple in Thep Krasattri.

A head monk, known as an Abbot, has sustained injuries after he was stabbed by a man who asked for 20 Baht inside a famous temple in Thalang.

Now for update:

The Thalang Police Chief Colonel Nikorn Choothong told the Phuket Express that on Tuesday (May 21st) at 9:00 P.M. an arrest warrant had been issued for Mr. Thanakorn (Bank) Aroonrat, 38. He is being accused of attempted murder.

On Wednesday (May 22nd) Bank was arrested in front of a market in Baan Phon, Sri Sunthorn. He was taken back to the Thalang Police Station for further legal action.

Bank allegedly asked the Abbot for 20 Baht and then stabbed the monk when his request was not immediately met. The Abbot stated he did not have the money on him but was going to get it from a charity box when the incident happened.
