French and Thai Men Injured after Sword and Knife Fight in Karon, Phuket

On Monday, May 20th, 2024, a violent altercation occurred in Karon involving a French and a Thai man, resulting in serious injuries due to a sword and knife fight.

The incident was reported to the Karon Police at 11:20 P.M., and upon reviewing CCTV footage, it was established that the conflict began at 9:30 P.M. when Mr. Jirasak ‘Mun’ Thonghor threw a beer bottle into the residence of Mr. Arnaud Cezard, a 50-year-old French national.

Following a heated exchange, the confrontation escalated into a physical fight in the vicinity of Soi Green Drinking Water. Both individuals were armed, one with a knife and the other with a sword, and subsequently, they were admitted to different hospitals for treatment.

The police have not disclosed which individual wielded which weapon. Colonel Khundet Na Nongkhai informed the Phuket Express that while the French man has recovered, the Thai man remains on intubation.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to the fight and to decide on further legal proceedings.
