Koh Samui—
On May 18th, 2024, Koh Samui District Administrative Officials received an accident report of a foreigner suffering a serious knee injury after falling at Na Muang Waterfall 2 in Koh Samui, Surat Thani.
In response to the report, Koh Samui tourist police, rescue teams, and relevant agencies were dispatched to the accident scene and found a French tourist, whose name was withheld by the police, who had suffered a serious injury after slipping and hurting her knee.
According to the police report, the victim and her three other friends went hiking at Na Muang Waterfall 2. However, the French victim reportedly slipped and fell on rocks as she walked on rocky and slippery terrain. Her friends then asked locals for help as the French victim could not walk.
The rescue teams prepared the necessary equipment and planned the rescue of the victim. Upon arriving at the accident scene, the rescue teams performed first aid and slowly transferred the victim to safety with a folding stretcher.
The victim was successfully transferred to Koh Samui Hospital for medical treatment, according to the rescue teams. The operation took over two hours as the terrain was rocky, steep, and slippery.
However, Na Muang Waterfall 2 reportedly had similar accidents every year, although officers put out warning signs. It was reported that some of them had even lost their lives from falling from high ground.
