Thalang, Phuket-

In a tragic incident in Sri Sunthorn, Thalang, a motorcyclist was fatally injured following a collision with a trailer truck on a road where such vehicles are prohibited.

The Thalang Police received a report of the accident at approximately 5:20 P.M. on Thursday, May 16th, along the Khao Lan – Bang Jo Road in Baan Kluay. Upon arrival, emergency services, accompanied by the Phuket Express, discovered the body of Mr. Thanakorn Gahong, a 52-year-old Thai national, alongside his motorcycle.

Mr. Gahong was declared deceased at the location due to significant head trauma. His helmet was located near the site of the accident. The involved trailer truck, driven by 60-year-old Mr. Somchai Sujaritthamm, was found at the scene.

According to eyewitness accounts provided to the Phuket Express, the trailer truck driven by Somchai struck the motorcyclist and continued driving without stopping. It was only at a nearby intersection that the vehicle ceased movement. Somchai, reportedly unaware of the collision, was informed of the accident by a concerned citizen who had pursued the truck, prompting his return to the scene.

It has been observed by the Phuket Express that signage clearly indicates the prohibition of trailer trucks on this particular local road.
