In a significant crackdown on illegal narcotics in Phuket, authorities have apprehended a Russian national and three Nigerians in possession of drugs valued at over four million baht.
The Phuket Immigration Office disclosed to the Phuket Express that on Wednesday, May 15th, they detained four foreign individuals on drug-related charges. The suspects are identified as:
– **Mr. Denis**, a 38-year-old Russian national, was arrested and transported to the Wichit Police Station. He faces charges of illegal possession of Category 2 drugs, specifically cocaine, with the intent to distribute.
– **Mr. Ogadinma**, a 41-year-old Nigerian national, and **Mr. Harison**, a 40-year-old Nigerian national, were both taken into custody and brought to the Karon Police Station. They are charged with illegal possession of Category 2 drugs, cocaine, with the intent to sell.
– **Mr. Solomon**, a 53-year-old Nigerian national, was apprehended and taken to the Chalong Police Station. He is charged with illegal possession of Category 1 drugs, including crystal methamphetamine and Ecstasy, with the intent to sell, as well as illegal possession of Category 2 drugs, Ketamine.
The initial arrest of the Russian suspect led to the subsequent capture of the Nigerian individuals. Confiscated from the suspects were a total of 855 Ecstasy pills, 470 grams of cocaine, and 127.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
The Phuket Immigration Office’s operation has dealt a significant blow to the drug trade in the region, underscoring their commitment to combating illegal drug distribution.
