Rassada –
In Rassada, a tragic incident occurred when a young Russian woman was fatally struck by a pickup truck as she crossed the Bypass Road.
At 2:17 A.M. on Monday (May 13th), the Phuket City Police received a report of the accident, which took place on the southbound lane of the Bypass Road (Chalerm Phrakiet Rama 9 Road) in Rassada. Emergency services and the Phuket Express were dispatched to the location near the Samkong Underpass entrance.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered a pickup truck on the roadway and, fifteen meters away, the body of a foreign woman, covered in blood. The victim was later identified as 23-year-old Ms. Karina Medvedeva, a Russian national.
According to witnesses, the pickup truck was traveling at a high velocity when Ms. Medvedeva suddenly stepped onto the road in front of the vehicle. The police are currently examining CCTV footage to determine the next steps for legal proceedings.
