Thai Meteorological Department Issues Weather Forecast: Rising Temperatures and Thunderstorm Warnings Across Multiple Regions

At 5:00 AM, on May 12th, 2024, the Thai Meteorological Department reported the general weather conditions and forecast for the next 24 hours.

Low-pressure areas due to the prevailing heat covering Thailand’s upper regions, coupled with areas of cool air masses covering the upper parts of Thailand, were beginning to weaken. This condition caused temperatures to rise in Thailand, with hot weather and partly cloudy skies during midday, and hot weather in some areas of the northern region.

Meanwhile, southeasterly winds and southern winds covered the lower northern region, northeastern region, central region, and eastern region. This pattern still brought thunderstorms and strong winds to some areas of the northern and central regions.

People in the upper regions of Thailand should be cautious of dangers from thunderstorms and strong winds during this period.

As for the eastern winds and southeasterly winds covering the Gulf of Thailand, the southern region, and the Andaman Sea, this might lead to thunderstorms in the southern region. Sailors should avoid sailing in areas prone to thunderstorms.

Additionally, from May 11th to 13th, high-pressure areas covered the upper parts of Thailand and the South China Sea. This resulted in southeasterly winds and southern winds covering the upper parts of Thailand. Meanwhile, the upper parts of Thailand experienced hot to extremely hot weather, leading to thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rains in some areas.

However, from May 14th to 17th, the southeasterly winds and southern winds covering the upper parts of Thailand weakened, causing a decrease in rainfall. There would be hot weather during midday and extremely hot weather in some areas.

As for air quality, Thailand has a low accumulation of small dust particles, PM 2.5, as there were rains in many areas and good air ventilation.
