Patong –
An Australian motorbike rider was arrested in Patong for drunk driving on Saturday (May 4th).
The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that they had set up a police checkpoint near a football field on the Taweewong Road in Patong. At 2:19 A.M. a suspicious male foreign motorbike rider was stopped at the police checkpoint.
He was given an alcohol breath test. The test showed .209 milligrams percent of alcohol which was well over the legal alcohol limit of .50. The rider was identified by police only as Mr. Clayton, 47, Australian national.
He was taken to the Patong Police Station to face charges of drunk driving. He did not immediately release a statement to the media.
