UPDATE: British Man Arrested after Attacking Phuket Tuk Tuk Taxi Driver

Phuket –

A British man was arrested in Krabi after he reportedly attacked a Tuk Tuk taxi driver in Phuket over a fare payment dispute.

Our previous story:

A disagreement over taxi fare payment turned violent when a foreign passenger assaulted a Tuk Tuk driver in Phuket. The altercation, captured on video and widely circulated on social media, occurred after a dispute over the amount of money that had been paid en route from Patong to Karon.

Now for the update:

The Karon Police Chief Colonel Khundet Na Nongkhai told the Phuket Express on Tuesday (April 30th) that the Koh Phi Phi Police and the Karbi Tourist Police arrested a suspect identified only as Mr. Luke, 31, British national, at a hotel on the Phi Phi Island in Krabi.

The arrest followed the Phuket Kwaeng Court issuing an arrest warrant for Mr. Luke on the accusation of assault against another person causing body and mental harm.

Luke was taken back to the Karon Police Station in Phuket. Colonel Khundet told the Phuket Express that Mr. Luke did not release any statement or plea as of press time and declined to speak to the media.
