PRESS RELEASE:
Foreign Affairs Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara resigned from his cabinet position on Sunday (Apr 28), following a cabinet reshuffle that resulted in him losing his additional role as deputy prime minister. Despite retaining his portfolio as Foreign Minister in the new cabinet lineup, Parnpree chose to step down, expressing that his decision was based on principles and confidence in his performance.
During his tenure, Parnpree highlighted his contributions to boosting foreign investments and advancing Thailand’s economic diplomacy, which included opening new trade opportunities. He was also active in addressing international crises and negotiating the release of Thai nationals detained abroad during conflicts such as the Hamas-Israel violence and in Laukkaing, Myanmar.
Following his resignation, Parnpree confirmed in a media interview that he would reconsider his future political engagement with the ruling Pheu Thai Party. He stated that he felt constrained by only holding the foreign ministerial post, believing others could more effectively fulfill the role given the broader scope of responsibilities.
