Kratom Juice Vendor Arrested at Local Grocery in Thalang

Thalang –

A Kratom juice vendor was arrested at a local grocery store in Thalang.

The Thalang District Office Chief Mr. Pairoj Srilamun told the Phuket Express that on Wednesday (April 24th) a team official from the Thalang Office raided a local grocery store on the Thep Krasattri Road in Sri Sunthorn sub-district. The raid came after they received complaints from concerned citizens.

Officials arrested an unidentified Thai male suspect. Seized from him were 2,467 plastic bottles, 16 bottles of cough syrup, and 213,000 milliliters of kratom juice.

The Phuket Express noted that cough syrup is one of four ingredients that is being used among local teenagers to make a cocktail drug known locally as 4X100 (‘See Koon Roi’) mixed with kratom juice. The suspect was taken to the Thalang Police Station for further legal action.

Officials are warning local groceries in Phuket and Thailand that Kratom juice is listed as a controlled herbal product and any such controlled herbal product must be given permission by the Thai Food and Drug Administration before selling. Kratom Juice is also not allowed to be an ingredient or mixed into other food or juice for selling. So even pure Kratom Juice in a bottle cannot be sold, especially on public streets.
