1. Thai Natural Resources and Environmental Crime Suppression Division, Mueang Samut Sakhon police officers, and relevant agencies launched an inspection at a Taiwanese company in Mueang Samut Sakhon, regarding an alleged connection to the disappearance of 15,000 tonnes of hazardous cadmium in Tak.

Thai health and environmental experts warned of the severe risks associated with cadmium exposure, which could potentially lead to cancer through consumption or inhalation.

2. Mr. Srettha Thavisin, the Thai Prime Minister, and relevant agencies held an urgent meeting regarding a Myanmar commercial aircraft landing at Mae Sot Airport, Tak.

It was reported that the senators proposed to the Thai government to assign a government official unit to manage refugees and establishment of shelters, according to Thai national media.

3. The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) announced that a heat wave was currently occurring in the upper part of Thailand until April 11th, 2024. A cold air mass from China would descend to cover northeastern Thailand and the South China Sea, said the TMD.

This weather pattern would result in a summer storm in the upper parts of Thailand, characterized by thunderstorms, strong gusts, and localized hailstorms. Lightning strikes might occur in some areas.

4. A total of 234 road accidents, with 248 injuries and 25 deaths, were reported on Friday (April 12th) by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) on the first day (April 11th) of the ‘Seven Days Road Safety Campaign’ during Songkran (April 11th – April 17th) 2024.
