Thalang Home Engulfed by Fire, Elderly Resident Escapes Unharmed

THALANG, PHUKET– A devastating fire swept through a local residence in Sri Soonthorn Tuesday night, leaving the property in ruins and authorities investigating the cause.

The blaze was reported to Srisoonthorn Municipality fire fighters at approximately 9:30 P.M. on Tuesday, April 9th. Emergency personnel rushed to the scene in Baan Manik, where they encountered the home fully engulfed in flames. Despite the intensity of the fire, teams managed to extinguish the blaze after a strenuous 40-minute effort.

The homeowner, Mr. Moonma Sauyson, age 71, recounted to the Phuket Express the moments leading up to the inferno. He described detecting a burning odor accompanied by sounds reminiscent of firecrackers, followed by the sight of smoke and flames at the front of his house. Mr. Sauyson attempted to combat the fire while awaiting the arrival of firefighters.

Authorities suspect an electrical short circuit as the preliminary cause of the fire. Forensic Police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the definitive cause. Meanwhile, assessments are underway to ascertain the full extent of the damages incurred by the incident.

The community has reportedly rallied around Mr. Sauyson, providing support as he navigates the aftermath of this unexpected tragedy.
