The average temperature for April 2024 was expected to be higher than normal, and the total rainfall would be lower than usual, approximately 30 percent.
2. Taiwan Earthquake: Nine Dead, Over 1,000 Injured in Hualien’s Most Powerful Quake in 25 Years.
Taiwanese media reported that the magnitude 7.3 earthquake was Taiwan’s most powerful in 25 years, causing nine casualties and more than 1,011 injured. No Thai casualties or injuries were reported from the Thailand Trade and Economic Office (Taipei).
3. Thai Tourist Police Ensure Safety Measures for Songkran Festival 2024 with Hotline 1155 and “Tourist Police i lert u” App.
The Thai Tourist Police Bureau established a call center via hotline 1155 connected to other emergency services such as 191 and 1669 to receive urgent reports 24/7 in multiple languages for the Songkran Festival.
4. Massive Illegal Immigrant Raid in Kanchanaburi.
Mueang Kanchanaburi police officers inspected an abandoned house and found a group of more than 123 individuals illegally crossing the Thai border to seek jobs in Thailand.
5. Massive Drug Seizure in Northwest Thailand: Over 13 Million Meth Pills Seized in One Day.
Pha Mueang officers seized more than 13 million pills of amphetamine with an estimated value of 14.6 billion baht on the same day in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.
