Gunman Arrested in Phuket After Allegedly Killing Two People

Phuket-

In a significant breakthrough, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) apprehended a fugitive gunman in Phuket on Sunday, March 24th, 2024. The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Thanya ‘Bom’, was detained at a department store in Wichit, Phuket City.

Thanya was on the run following a warrant issued by the Surat Thani Provincial Court on March 23rd, 2024, say Phuket police. He faces serious allegations including murder, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and carrying a gun in public without permission.

The arrest stems from an incident on March 22nd, 2024, when Don Sak Police in Surat Thani were alerted to a fatal shooting approximately 200 meters from their station. The case, linked to an alleged illegal drug trade dispute, pointed to Thanya as the perpetrator, say police. Notably, Thanya was previously implicated in the 2022 murder of a prominent businesswoman in Surat Thani and had been released on bail during the trial.

Following a tip-off, police tracked Thanya’s escape to Phuket, leading to his capture. He has since been transported to Don Sak Police Station, where he has reportedly denied all charges against him. The investigation continues as authorities delve deeper into Thanya’s alleged criminal activities.
