Kratom Vendor Arrested on Roadside in Thalang

A Kratom vendor was arrested at a stall on a roadside in Thalang.

Officials from the Thalang District Office told the Phuket Express that last week they arrested a suspect identified only as Mr. Arm (His age was not given by relevant officers). He was arrested at a stall on the side of the Thep Krasattri Road in Baan Mueang Mai, Thep Krasattri sub-district. Seized from him were 39 bottles of Kratom juice. He was taken to the Thalang Police Station for further legal action.

Police are warning local vendors in Phuket and Thailand that Kratom juice is listed as a controlled herbal product and any such controlled herbal product cannot be produced or sold without permission by the Thai Food and Drug Administration.

Kratom Juice is also not allowed to be added as an ingredient or mixed into other food or juice for selling. So even pure Kratom Juice in a bottle cannot be sold, especially on public streets.

Anyone who breaks the law could be imprisoned from six months to two years or fined from 5,000 Baht to 20,000 baht.
