Eighty Five Leatherback Sea Turtles Hatch on Phang Nga Beach

Phang Nga –

Eighty-five baby leatherback sea turtles hatched on a beach and headed into the sea in the Thai Mueang district.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that over the past weekend 85 baby leatherback sea turtles hatched from a nest on a beach in the Khao Lampi Hat Thai Mueang National Park area. However, 15 of the eggs in the clutch did not hatch.

The baby turtles then rushed to their new home in the sea. The mother leatherback sea turtle had laid her eggs in December of last year.
