Pakistani Arrested in Phuket for Using Thai ID Card

Phuket –

A wanted Pakistani man was arrested in Phuket for using a Thai Identification card.

The Royal Phuket Immigration told the Phuket Express on Friday (February 16th) that they arrested Mr. JAFFAR (alias), 31, Pakistani national. He was arrested in front of a house on the Surin Road in Talad Yai, Phuket Town.

The arrest followed the arrest warrant issued by the Pattani Provincial Court for him on January 19th, 2024 in which he is being accused of using a fake identification card causing damage. He was taken back to the Mae Lan Police Station in Pattani.

This is not the first issue of Pakistani nationals having fake or illegal ID cards in Thailand.

In 2019 the Pattani Immigration Bureau first arrested a man identified only as Mr. IKRAM, 24, a Pakistani national. He was accused of working without permission and was deported. Officers found that there were many Pakistani nationals illegally working in the area.

Officers continued to investigate in which they found a Mr. Sami who is Mr. IKRAM’s younger brother. He presented a Thai ID card to officers. They checked with the Mae Lan District Office and they found that the ID card was illegally issued.

Officers are investigating how these Pakistani men got Thai ID cards from the Mae Lan District Office.
