PRESS RELEASE:
Suvarnabhumi International Airport anticipates a total of 2.36 million passengers traveling through the airport during the Chinese New Year festival from February 4th to 16th, averaging about 182,000 people per day.
The airport estimates that this includes 1.94 million international passengers, both arrivals and departures, and about 417,000 domestic passengers, marking a 32.73% increase from the previous year’s festival.
The airport also expects nearly 13,000 flights during this period, averaging 990 flights per day, a 19.99% increase from the previous Chinese New Year. This includes 10 airlines requesting additional flights and charter services, totaling 226 flights.
The top three airlines requesting the most additional flights, both arrivals and departures, are Bangkok Airways with 73 flights, Thai Vietjet with 42 flights, and Shanghai Airlines with 26 flights, showing a 91.53% increase from the previous year.
In addition, Suvarnabhumi Airport is implementing the Ministry of Transport’s policy to facilitate travel during the Chinese New Year. This includes preparing Chinese-language interpreters to support government agencies or airlines upon request, coordinating with shop and restaurant operators to create Chinese-language signage to ease service usage for Chinese passengers, and ensuring maximum efficiency in passenger facilitation.
The airport also encourages passengers to use the automated check-in system and the automated baggage drop system, offering an alternative for passengers to check in and load luggage without waiting at airline counters.
Additionally, passengers are urged to check out the “SAWASDEE by AOT” mobile application, which helps passengers easily plan their travels and access various airport services for added convenience and speed.
