Phuket –
A mother sea turtle laid eggs on a beach in Phuket.
The Thai Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that on Saturday morning (January 27th) they were notified of the event by Mr. Udom Patkor, a lifeguard on Karon Beach. A mother sea turtle was laying eggs on the beach near the Nong Harn Lake.
She was a mother Olive Ridley Sea Turtle. As of press time, officers had counted the number of eggs at about 120. The eggs were relocated to a safer area on the beach where sea water could not reach the nest. The DMCR officials stated that the baby sea turtles should hatch in about 60 days.
