Phuket Welcomes First Flight from Air India

Phuket welcomed the first flight from Air India, a new direct flight from New Delhi.

On Friday (December 15th) at the Phuket International Airport, a team of Phuket officials led by the Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat welcomed the first flight from the Air India airline, a direct flight from New Delhi to Phuket.

Governor Sophon said, “Indian tourists are one of Phuket’s main tourists. Indians are also one of the nationalities in the current Visa Exemption scheme. We are glad to welcome more Indian tourists.”

Mr. Patsri Permwongsaenee, the director of the office of Asian, South Asia and South Pacific in the Tourism Authority of Thailand said, “The new direct flight from ‘Air India’ is providing four flights per week from New Delhi to Phuket with 162 passengers per flight.”

“From November 10th since the Visa Exemption, there were 5,000 Indian visitors to Thailand per day which is 1,000 more per day than average. Since the start of this year there were 1.5 million Indian visitors in Thailand. At the end of this year, Indian visitors will generate in total billions of baht in tourism dollars.”
