Driver Survives after Van Catches Fire in Chalong – VIDEOS

A driver has escaped injuries after fire gutted a van in Chalong.

Firefighters from the Chalong Municipality were notified of the fire at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday (December 10th) on the Chao Fah West Road in Chalong. They arrived at the scene with a fire engine to find the black van was heavily ablaze. It took about 15 minutes to control the fire.

The engine room and the inside of the van was damaged by the fire. The driver, whose name was not released by relevant officials, ran away from the fire and escaped injuries.

The driver told firefighters that he heard the sound of an explosion before seeing some smoke billowing from the engine room. He stopped the van and ran away. At this stage, it is believed that the cause of the fire is an electrical short circuit in the vehicle’s engine room. The damage is estimated to cost in the hundreds of thousands of baht.
