Boat Captain Jumps Into Sea in Chalong to Escape Possible Mutiny Attempt by Crew Member

Chalong –

A boat captain jumped into the sea to escape after a crew member allegedly tried to attack him with a knife on a boat in Rawai.

The Royal Thai Navy Third Area Command told the Phuket Express that they were notified of the incident earlier this week from the unidentified owner of a two storey fishing boat. The boat was travelling from Kata Beach to Chalong.

The boat owner was notified from the boat captain that when they arrived near Nai Harn Beach in Rawai, a boat crew member tried to attack the boat captain with a knife. The boat captain then jumped into the sea to escape the possibly mutiny attempt.

The Royal Thai Navy reached the boat before catching the boat crew member, who also wasn’t immediately identified by authorities. The boat captain was not found nearby due to swimming to land and calling the owner, as mentioned. The boat crew member was taken to the Chalong Police Station for further legal action.

It was unclear what caused the incident.
