UPDATE: Rescued Blainville’s Beaked Whale in Songkhla Dies

The rare Blainville’s Beaked Whale which was rescued in Songkhla was sadly later pronounced dead.

A large Blainville’s Beaked Whale has been rescued after getting stuck on a beach in Songkhla, first time in 12 years found in Thailand.

Now for the update:

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express on Tuesday (December 5th) that after they provided medical treatment for the female whale, she was unable to survive. The whale went into shock before they gave her a meal. Veterinarians injected adrenaline but the whale did not resuscitate before she was pronounced dead.

An autopsy is being conducted to find the exact cause of death.
