Myanmar Man Dies after Falling into a Canal in Phuket Town

Phuket –

A Myanmar man has died after falling into a canal in Phuket Town.

Emergency responders were notified of the incident before midnight on Tuesday (December 5th) at the Bang Yai Canal on the Takua Pa Road in Talad Yai sub-district, Mueang Phuket.

They arrived at the scene to find a man in the shallow canal. Rescue workers went down into the canal which is about three meters high. The man was later pulled up from the canal where he was pronounced dead.

Local residents nearby told emergency responders the man was a Myanmar national. He was allegedly intoxicated before residents saw him fall into the canal.

The man’s name was not released by relevant officials and the case was under investigation as of press time.
