Mobile App Taxi Driver Attacked While Picking Up Passenger at a Beach Club in Cherng Talay

Thalang –

A mobile application taxi driver sustained injuries after he was attacked by several men while he was picking a passenger up at a beach club in Cherng Talay, according to a police report.

The Cherng Talay Police told the Phuket Express that on Sunday (December 3rd) that on Saturday (December 2nd) Mr. A (alias), 25, filed a report to relevant police. He told the police that he is a legal, licensed taxi driver and that a passenger called him via a legal mobile application to pick them up at a beach club.

When Mr. A arrived at the beach club, an unidentified man asked him which taxi application he used. After that, the man asked him to wait for his passenger on a road outside the beach club. Mr. A then called his passenger to get on his taxi outside the beach club.

Suddenly, something hit Mr. A’s taxi from behind. Mr. A then stated to police that he saw two strange men holding wooden sticks walking toward his taxi. He then got out of his taxi and the two men reportedly told Mr. A ‘Do you understand?’ before smacking and hitting him. Meanwhile, another man allegedly hit Mr. A in the back four times with a wooden stick before pushing him back into his taxi.

Mr. A then went to a hospital in Phuket and found that he had sustained rib and lung injuries. He is now being treated at a hospital in his hometown in Trang as he is concerned over his safety.

Cherng Talay Police stated they are reviewing the report and will conduct a further investigation to identify and interview potential suspects and press legal charges if warranted.
