Phuket Governor Orders Local Authorities to Help Solve Traffic Problems

Phuket –

The Phuket Governor has ordered local authorities to open some small roads in several areas to decrease traffic jams on main roads.

The Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat told the Thai press on Thursday (November 30th) that many road users have complaints about heavy traffic jams on many main roads in Phuket especially on the Thep Krassattri Road and on Patong Hill.

This traffic jam problem has continued for a long time which needs long term problem solving said Sophon. However, nowadays, there are lots more vehicles on Phuket roads than in the past. One of the reasons is that the number of mobile application taxis have increased.

For short-term problem solving, local authorities have to improve or open local small roads that can lead to main roads in their areas. These local roads can be used as road connectors to relieve traffic on main roads. Road improvements might need to include road surfacing, installing more lights, signals, and bi-lingual road signs.
