On November 29th, 2023, His Royal Majesty King Vajiralongkorn appointed a former Prime Minister of Thailand, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, as a new privy councilor effective as of today.
His Royal Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has graciously ordained that, as per a royal decree originally issued on October 21st, 2022, it is deemed appropriate to appoint additional privy councilors. A privy councilor acts as a type of advisor to the Monarchy and the Royal Family of Thailand. (More below)
This is exercised in accordance with Articles 10 and 11 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, 2017.
Therefore, His Majesty has graciously ordained the appointment of General Prayut Chan-o-cha as a privy councilor, effective immediately.
The Privy Council of Thailand is a body of appointed advisors to the Monarchy of Thailand. The council is composed of no more than eighteen members, and the king alone appoints all members of the council.
Gen. Prayut is currently the 19th chosen privy councilor of Thailand.
