UPDATE: Second Sea Turtle Impacted by Oil in Phuket Sea

Phuket –

A second sea turtle was found impacted by oil in the sea in Phuket. Ecologists said that the oil has had a major impact on marine resources.

Oil stains were found on several beaches in Thalang along with a baby sea turtle that appeared to have been impacted by the oil.

The Phuket Marine Office filed a report for legal action against a boat that released oil into the sea.

Now for the update:

Marine life expert Dr. Thon Thamrongnawasawat said, a second sea turtle was found covered with oil stains at Racha Yai Island in Mueang Phuket. The turtle was rescued and cleaned before being taken to the Sireetarn Endangered Marine Animals Rescue Center for further medical treatment. The oil stain is now heavily impacting the marine and coral reef ecosystem . This problem is urgent and needs to be quickly resolved.
