Driver Arrested after Parking Sedan with Fake Red License Car Plate at Phuket Highway Police Station

Phuket –

A driver was arrested after he stopped his sedan to use the toilet inside a Phuket Highway Police Station. He was found to be using a fake red license car plate.

The Phuket Highway Police told the Phuket Express that over this past weekend the driver in question stopped at a toilet inside the Phuket Highway Office in Thalang. Police found that the sedan was suspicious as it seemed to be too old to be using a red license car plate, reserved for newly purchased vehicles.

Police asked the driver to check his sedan. They found that the sedan had already been previously registered with a white license plate. The driver admitted that he used the red plate to avoid financial debt collectors. He said he does not have enough money to pay for his monthly sedan installment payments and hoped the fake license plate would throw off the the finance company.

The driver was taken to the Thalang Police Station to face charges of using fake documents. The Phuket Express noted that the Phuket Highway Police did not give any further details about the driver such as his name or age.

The Phuket Express noted that every Highway Police Station in Thailand provides free services for drivers with free toilets and bathrooms. Some of the highway police stations even provide basic free rooms for drivers and their families to sleep. This is done to encourage drivers to avoid falling asleep at the wheel.
