Illegal Cigarette Shop Raided in Phuket

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) Police raided a shop in Mueang Phuket found selling cigarettes illegally.

The CIB Police told the Phuket Express that over the past weekend they arrested a woman identified only as Ms. Preeda at a shop in the Rassada sub-district. She is being accused of illegal possession and selling of cigarettes on which government duty was not paid.

The raid came after police were notified by an anonymous concerned citizen that illegal cigarettes were being sold at the shop. They went to the shop posing as buyers and the seller sold the cigarettes with unpaid duty for 290 baht whereas the cost of the same cigarettes with duty-paid would have been 1,650 Baht.
